Approved Repairs

All repairs are carried out by Volkswagen Trained Technicians in Volkswagen Authorised Repairers, giving you the peace of mind that your Volkswagen will be repaired to the same high standards as before.

Genuine Parts

We only use genuine parts and accessories and each one comes with a two-year warranty, excluding wear and tear items.

Courtesy car

We’ll provide a minimum of a small courtesy car while your car is being repaired by a Volkswagen Approved Repairer.

Windscreen cover

We’ll pay the full cost of repairs to chips or other small damage to your windscreen.

Driving abroad

When using your car abroad, Volkswagen Insurance provides foreign travel cover in the European Union, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia and Switzerland with all the same features and benefits. Length of cover can be found in your Cover Booklet.

Personal accident

In the event of death or injury whilst getting into, travelling in or getting out of your car, we will pay £10,000 for death, total and permanent loss of sight in one eye, one hand or one foot. This cover also applies to passengers.

Replacement locks

If the keys, lock transmitter or entry card for a keyless entry system of the vehicle are lost or stolen, we will pay up to £500 towards the cost of replacement.

Child seat replacement

We’ll cover the cost of replacing any child seat with a new one of the same (or similar) model and standard following an accident.

Personal belongings cover

We will cover up to £250 for personal belongings that are lost or damaged following an accident, fire or theft. We will also cover up to £200 for wheelchairs, prams, pushchairs and carrycots.

Policy information

How do I change any of my personal details?

Please contact us to update your personal details and we will advise of any changes in premium.

What happens if I change my car during my policy?

Please contact us to update your vehicle details and we will advise of any changes in premium, providing your new vehicle fits our underwriting criteria.

What documents do I submit as proof of my no claims discount?

This should be on your renewal schedule from your previous insurer. Alternatively, your previous insurer can send you a proof of no claims letter. The documents must be the originals and up to date.

What if I want to cancel my policy?

Please contact us to cancel your policy.

If you have had a telematics device fitted to your vehicle it will no longer report data, however if you would like the device to be removed there will be a £50 fee.

Telematics information

What data does the telematics device record?

The device that gets installed in your Volkswagen transmits data about various aspects of your driving style, such as speed, acceleration, braking, cornering, swerving and usage patterns. The device also uses 'black box' telematics technology to enable your car's GPS location to be identified in the unfortunate event that your car gets stolen.

Will my insurance be at risk if I break the speed limits?

If you have a telematics device fitted in your vehicle or use the Volkswagen Insurance Telematics app, persistent and excessive speeding may lead to your Volkswagen Insurance policy being cancelled.  View full cancellation terms in the Cover Booklet

How does the telematics app work?

The app uses telematics technology and acts as a ‘black box’ to measure various aspects of your driving style such as speed, acceleration, braking, cornering, swerving and usage patterns. We then take this information and sort it into three categories – Speed, Smoothness and Usage. These are then combined to give you an overall Driving Style score. Using the app you will be able to keep track of your Driving Style score.

Where do I download the telematics app from?

The Volkswagen Insurance Telematics app is free to download and is available on iOS and Android. You can download the app via the link contained in your confirmation of cover email or by visiting the App Store or the Google Play Store.

How do I link the telematics app to my policy?

Once you have activated your Volkswagen Insurance policy, you will receive an email with your app login details. You have 24 hours from your cover start date to download, register and pair the app to your vehicle’s Bluetooth or your insurance may be cancelled.

Once you have linked the app to your policy it is important that you take your phone with you for every car journey, switched on to ensure that your driving style data is recorded.

If I have named drivers on my policy will they have to download the app?

Yes, any journeys undertaken by you or the named drivers will incur an additional £500 excess if you have an accident without the telematics app operating.

Once you have added any named drivers to your insurance policy they will be listed in the named drivers section of your app. You will need to enter the email addresses of the named drivers and they will then be sent details on how to download and login to the app.

How much data will the app use?

The app will consume approximately 4MB of data per month (based on average use of 10,000 miles per year). Higher mileage users should find that the app consumes only a small fraction of even the most limited mobile phone data plans.

If I have changed my smartphone do I have to re-install the app?

Yes, if you have changed your smartphone please download the app again and login using the details we emailed you after you activated your policy. Follow the steps on screen to re-connect the app to your vehicle’s Bluetooth.
